The dark color in this Norfolk Island Pine hollow form is the result of exposing the wood to the elements for 8-12 months so that it begins to decay, and this produces the dark areas. The eyes are the end of the branches that grow out of the pith of the tree. The black top and bottom are African Black wood. This is finished with wipe on varnish, buffed, and waxed. You can refresh with quality furniture polish as needed.
